Seek the Unexpected

WPP Manchester

In response to the client's desire for a bold and creative art approach for WPP's new Manchester offices, the goal was to steer clear of common symbols associated with the city. The emphasis was on crafting designs that were full of life and expression, embracing creativity while avoiding a typical WPP branded scheme.

Inspiration for the project drew from Manchester's rich history in computing, textiles, and music, integrating WPP's expertise in creative transformation. The objective was to forge a dynamic and immersive experience that paid homage to Manchester's heritage while aligning with WPP's commitment to creative excellence.

The installation “woven palettes”, represents various facets of the city through a curated collection of colourful cotton spools, paying tribute to Manchester's distinguished industrial textile legacy through 14 custom-made cotton spools.

Another piece of work in the same building, “binary canvas” was designed to honor the first computer to run a program at the University of Manchester in 1948. This hand-painted artwork explores the intricate patterns generated by the binary system, transforming them into a 10-storey long graphic that celebrates this revolutionary invention.
